Fitrah: The Original Human Ground

TL;DR

The fitrah is the innate natural disposition of human beings. This article covers view of the fitrah, the ego, uncontacted tribes and how it is foundational in the Green Pill.

Introduction: The Natural Design

Long before this world, we were in a primordial state, connected to our source. Before the plug was disconnected and we entered this world; we were upon the fitrah.

What is the Fitrah?

The fitrah is the original, innate disposition of the human being- the natural orientation toward truth, goodness, purity and recognition of the Divine as a lasting imprint of the Covenant. It sees Islam as the natural religion and it is inclined towards God.

The fitrah is the internal moral compass we are all born with. It is a latent capacity for knowing God. It exists as potential, not full clarity. The heart must be polished before truth becomes visible.

Humans are born receptive – but not yet seeing. It is capacity awaiting activation.

The ego is the primary obstacle to truth. This consists of:

  • Love of status.
  • Desire.
  • Attachment
  • Inner veils

Falsehood is not merely intellectual – it is moral and spiritual.

Reason is limited and fragile. It cannot reach certainty alone. Revelation and spiritual discipline guide it safely.

Fitrah is restored through purification:

  • Ethical discipline
  • Worship
  • Ascetic restraint
  • Sincerity
  • Gradual unveiling

Certainty comes from

  • Inner transformation
  • Experiential knowledge
  • Illumination

Truth is tasted.

Uncontacted Tribes

Uncontacted tribes are indigenous groups and are sustained without contact of the external world.

Tribes that have not yet been connected to the rest of the world, live with innate disposition. They believe in and worship God. They see right and wrong. There are basic laws which they follow.

How the Green Pill Fits In

Without external influence, we are wired to be orientated toward what is good and right. We accept rightful practices and reject transgression. We rely on a Creator for our sustenance.

The mechanisms of the world are not random. We have seasons, there are trials and tribulations, and after hardship will always come ease. Should there not be these laws, there would be total anarchy.

There is absence of the worst human behaviour within these communities for there is a natural understanding that they bring harm and disorder and thus they do not transgress against themselves.

Conclusion

The fitrah orientates us towards good and justice. An internal moral compass that guides us and connects us to God. It is what feels natural in a world so unfamiliar. By living by the fitrah, one can achieve clarity for they are living with purpose and goodness.

If this way of seeing resonates, I occasionally continue these reflections privately in Notes from Inima.
